There are a variety of things to do to fill your time in Newtonmore, with a great range of outdoor activities and visitor attractions both in the Village and the surrounding area. In addition, its location in the Cairngorm National Park and at the head of the Spey Valley, makes the ideal base for touring by car.

Golf – Newtonmore’s superb 18 hole golf course is adjacent to the hotel whilst courses at Kingussie, Boat of Garten, Grantown-on-Spey and the new course at Aviemore are all within a short 40 minutes drive. Walking - Newtonmore is also The Walking Centre of Scotland' - The Wildcat Centre in the middle of the village has details of local walks and those further afield. Wildlife - Newtonmore and the Spey Valley are an ideal location for viewing wildlife. BBC TV's Springwatch program recently spent several weeks in the area filming Ospreys, Wildcats, Crested Tits on the Rothiemurcus estate. Red squirrels, Pine Martens, Golden Eagles, Red Deer, Scottish Crossbills, Snow Bunting, Ptarmigan, Mountain Hares - the list of species to view is too large to complete. Other outdoor activities include Cycling, Pony Trekking, Bird and Wildlife Watching, Fishing and Watersports on Loch Inch and Loch Morlich.

Tourist attractions and historical sites. In Newtonmore village there is the Highland Folk Museum, Waltzing Waters – an indoor water, light and music spectacle, and the Clan Macpherson museum. Newtonmore Shinty Club welcome visitors to their matches at the Eilan. Nearby there are the Highland Wildlife Park, the visitor centre at Dalwhinnie Distillery, The Reindeer Centre at Glenmore and the Rothiemurcus estate where many activities, such as walking, clay pigeon shooting and sled dog rides can be arranged.
